 Lace aloe produce orange/red flowers when it blooms. When the weather changes the leaves on the aloe tend to change colors as well. This is because the plant is stressed. Don't worry this doesn't mean your plant is unhealthy or is going to die. Lace aloe grow 6-9" tall and 1-2" wide. Lace aloe can easily be identified by the fine cilia growing from its leaves. Sunlight Lace aloe can survive in a variety of light situations. Morning sun, afternoon sun, or a spot where it receives shade in the afternoon will all work for lace aloe. If your lace aloe is going to be in a spot that receives afternoon sun it will need to be acclimated in order to not burn its leaves. If you are growing your lace aloe indoors a south facing window would be perfect for this plant. Watering Lace aloe is drought tolerant and prone to root rot. It does not need to be watered frequently and needs to dry out between watering. It will need to be watered more frequently during the summer. You ...

 Gold tooth aloe is a variety of aloe that does not have medicinal properties. Its bontanical name is Aloe Nobilis. Gold tooth aloe can grow 6-12" tall and 12" wide. It bloom an orange/red flower that can be 2 feet tall. The flower produces nectar that will attract birds and bees.  Sunlight Gold tooth aloe would prefer a location where it can receive shade and be protected from afternoon sun. If gold tooth aloe is in a location that receives too much sun it will develop sun burn. Sun burn will damage the leaves of your plant. If you want to grow your gold tooth aloe in a spot that receives full sun be sure to acclimate.  Hardiness Gold tooth aloes can survive temperatures down to 25 degrees. It can be grown outdoors in zone 9b and above. If you live in a zone below 9b or live in an area that frequently has temperatures below 25 degrees then your aloe will need to be moved inside during the winter.   Air plants are unique plants that do not need soil to grow. There are many unique options for displaying air plants. I made this air plant display with an old window we had sitting in our storage unit. I used chicken wire and did every other window. I used a staple gun to attach the chicken wire to the window frame.I gently placed the bottom of the air plant through the holes in the chicken wire. Some air plants grow roots that help them anchor themselves to objects.  I will be getting picture frame hooks to attach to the back so I can hang this on the wall. This display will be able to hold a lot of air plants of different shapes and sizes.  Air plants can be watered two different ways. You can mist every other day or you can soak them in water for an hour every 2 weeks. Once you have watered your air plant leave it in a place it can get good air circulation and dry with in 4 hours.  I bought three cute vintage truck at menards to use for succulent arrangements. You can also use a toy truck for this if you want. Once I got home a drilled a hole into the bed of the trucks. Succulents need good drainage to stay healthy, since they are prone to root rot. I planned to put it outside so I filled it with a gritty soil mixture 2 parts chicken grit 1 part succulent and cactus. I used jelly bean succulents, ogres ear, and string of pearls to make one arrangement. The white truck has ogre ears, sedums, and chocolate soldier. Then I used tiger tooth aloe, aloe vera, climbing aloe, and lace aloe for the red truck.  The succulents I used all have similar light and watering needs which is important when making a succulent arrangement. If there needs are very different all of your plants will not be able to stay healthy in the same arrangement.  I made a hen and chick arrangement using a cowboy boot. The full video can be seen on my youtube channel  Crazy plant lady blog . The first step was to cut out the holes where I wanted to place the succulents. There is multiple layers to cut through. I cut through the leather layer first, then the fabric layers. The layers are pretty thick so this was the easiest way I found to do it. The second was to drill holes into the sole of the boot. Succulents need proper drainage. My experience with hen and chicks has made me believe they hate water. I wanted to make sure they had plenty of drainage holes so I used a medium sized drill bit and drilled four holes into the boot.  Once I had drainage holes and spots to put each of the hen and chicks I started filling the boot with dirt. I filled until the soil was lined up with the bottom hole. Then placed the first succulent into the hole. I had to remove some of the old dried up leaves to get a good fit. Then I used my fing...

  2020 was a crazy year with covid and stay at home orders. Many people were working at home or not working at all. Many people have started new hobbies during this time. Hobbies have helped keep them busy and provide them with some normalcy during these crazy times. Plants are one such hobby that have helped people during trying times. Retailers and consumers have both been affected by the pandemic. Consumers have found a new love and appreciation for plants.  Retailers are reporting major increases in sales. Demand has increased during the pandemic. Customers are still visiting stores even if they have to wear mask and sanitize their hands In fact a small plant shop opened their doors during the pandemic and are doing really well. The community has supported this small business and continued to do so. Etsy sellers and online merchants have also seen increases in sales. Some people can't leave their homes to go to a store, but they are still finding ways to bring beautif...

Each leaf has small white teeth that help it catch on to things and grow up ward. It produces red tubular shaped flowers during the winter. Climbing aloe can reach 6 1/2 - 10 feet tall.  Light This type of aloe loves full sun. It will do best placed in a south facing window indoors. The leaves on aloe snowdrift do not have spines or teeth. Aloe quicksilver grow to be 6-8" tall and bloom yellow or orange tubular flower. Once nerve plants are watered they will bounce back  Frequent fainting will eventually take its toll on the plant. Nerve plants have gotten a reputation of being a little tricky.
