Nerve plants faint or more accurately droop when they dry out to much. Once nerve plants are watered they will bounce back  Frequent fainting will eventually take its toll on the plant. Nerve plants have gotten a reputation of being a little tricky. People also call them drama queen plants. These two pictures were taken 2 hours apart.

Keep soil moist, but not saturated for nerve plants. Water every 4 days during growing season. Do not leave nerve plants sitting in water. They are prone to root rot. A standard potting mix will work well for nerve plants. Pick a pot with drainage holes to allow excess water to drain out. Nerve plants prefer a humid environment similar to the rain forest. You can place this plant in a bathroom, mist it frequently, or use a pebble tray to provide enough humidity for nerve plants.

Nerve plants do well in bright indirect light and can thrive under fluorescent light. It can't handle direct light it will suffer and get leaf burn. If your nerve plant grows leggy you can pinch of some leaves to keep your plant looking full and bushy. You can also pinch off flower buds. Nerve plants come in a couple different varieties I have green leaves with pink veins. There are also green leaves with silver veins. There is also a variety that has purple stems with green leaves and crimson veins. Nerve plants have shallow roots and will do well in a small pot. It will need to be re potted every couple of years and have the soil freshened up.

You can propagate nerve plant by taking a 2" cutting from the plant. You can place the cutting in moist potting soil. Keep the soil moist. You should see signs of new growth in 2-3 weeks.
