A lot of plants can cause minor gi upset in plants, but some can cause more serious issue. Today I am going to talk about some of the plants that can cause issues for our beloved fur babies.

  • Aloe
    aloe vera plant potted aloe is aloe toxic to pets

Aloe is toxic to dog if they ingest it. It can cause vomiting, diarrhea, depression, lack of appetite, and changes in urine. 
  • Calla lily
Calla lilies are poisonous to both dogs and cats. If its chewed the signs are immediate. Signs can include oral pain, diarrhea, drooling, and lack of appetite.
  • ZZ plant
ZZ plant is poisonous to dogs and cats. The symptoms are not as severe as some other plants, but it still can cause irritation for your plant. Signs include intense burning, irritation of the mouth, lips, and tongue and excessive drooling.
  • Jade plant

Jade plant is a succulent that is toxic to dogs. It is only mildly toxic and the signs can include retching and nausea.
  • Golden pothos

Is toxic to dogs if they chew on it. It is only mildly toxic and can cause intense burning, and irritation of the mouth, lips, tongue. It can also cause excessive drooling and difficulty swallowing.
  • Dracaena
Dracaena can cause vomiting, depression, lack of appetite, and drooling in pets. 
  • Peace lily
If your cat or dog chews on your peace lily it can cause a mild reaction. Symptoms include intense burning, irritation of mouth, lips, and tongue. It can also cause difficulty swallowing. 
  • Philodendron
Philodendron can be dangerous to pets if it is swallowed. Symptoms can include intense burning, irritation of mouth, lips, and tongue. It can also cause excessive drooling, vomiting, and difficulty swallowing.
  • String of pearls and dolphins 

String of pearls and dolphins are known to be toxic to pet. If a pet consumes string of pearls or dolphins the effects can be devastating. Skin symptoms can include contact dermatitis, severe irritation, rash, itching, pain and inflammation. It can also cause diarrhea, drooling, vomiting, liver failure, muscle convulsions, strange behavior, and weight loss.
  • Panda plant
Panda plant is a succulent that can cause vomiting, diarrhea, and lethargy when ingested. If large amounts of this plant is consumed it can be fatal. 
  • Snake plant

Snake plant will cause nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea in pets who ingest it.
