Air plant window garden
Air plants are unique plants that do not need soil to grow. There are many unique options for displaying air plants.
I made this air plant display with an old window we had sitting in our storage unit. I used chicken wire and did every other window. I used a staple gun to attach the chicken wire to the window frame.I gently placed the bottom of the air plant through the holes in the chicken wire. Some air plants grow roots that help them anchor themselves to objects.
I will be getting picture frame hooks to attach to the back so I can hang this on the wall. This display will be able to hold a lot of air plants of different shapes and sizes.
Air plants can be watered two different ways. You can mist every other day or you can soak them in water for an hour every 2 weeks. Once you have watered your air plant leave it in a place it can get good air circulation and dry with in 4 hours. They prefer bright indirect light. Once they bloom they will start to die, but they will produce pups that can be removed from the mother plant. Typically an air plant will produce 2-8 pups before dying. You can use Air plant fertilizer twice a month for your air plant.
