We have been remodeling our bathroom for the last couple weeks. I knew I wanted to display plants in our bathroom window, since we were creating my dream bathroom. I wanted to be able to display different types of plants and not just plants in hanging baskets. I would also only be able to put plants that prefer bright indirect light or low light plants in my bathroom. The window is an east facing window so it gets good morning sun and bright indirect light the rest of the day. I decided on a hanging shelf. I already had a piece of 15" round wood I had purchased at menards that would make the perfect base for my shelf. Wood Plywood Circles 15 inch, 1/8 Inch Thick, Round Wood Cutouts, Pack of 1 Baltic Birch Unfinished Wood Plywood Circles For Crafts, By Woodpeckers
I painted it black with black acrylic paint. Then I used PARACORD PLANET Mil-Spec Commercial Grade 550lb Type III Nylon Paracord (Black, 10 feet) to create a hanging shelf. You can use macramé or rope if you prefer. I had paracord on hand and prefer working with it. I cut the paracord into four 5ft long strands and then tied them in a knot. Next I separated the paracord so each piece went in a different direction.
Next place your wood piece on top of the paracord with the knot in the middle of the wood piece. Bring all of your paracord up and tie it into a knot at the top. Now you are ready to hang your new shelf.
I have snake plant, jade string of dolphin, and string of pearls on mine so far.
