I got this really cute rolling pin decoration from a family member a while back. They knew I liked plants and thought I could do something with it. I decided my snow drift aloe would look perfect in it. Aloe like well draining soil and prefer a pot with drainage holes. This didn't have any drainage holes, so my first step was to create some. I used an impact driver and a small drill bit. I made two lines of holes left to right on the bottom. I then mixed cactus and succulent soil with perlite. I added soil to fill the rolling pin halfway up and then placed the first aloe in. I then filled in around the aloe and the roots with more soil until the soil was touching the bottom of the aloe leaves and all the roots were thoroughly covered. I did the same process with the other aloe as well. I placed the planter in a south facing window and left it alone for a couple weeks before watering. This helps the roots to establish in their new pot. The aloe has been growing really well in this planter and are even starting to get rootbound.

I am starting to see an offset poking through the soil as well. These will probably get repotted this spring. Aloe is a more active grower in the summer and I don't won't to restrict the growth of these aloes. I am already thinking about a new succulent arrangement for this planter.
